JUDY
Judy, Mother of Three - Cardiff
I am a mother of three children under 4 years old, am 36 and stopped work when I had my first child...With the children around, time is limited for almost everything and shopping for me comes very low on the list. So when I do shop, it is often out of desperation. However, I have been getting the feeling more and more of late that none of this should mean that I have no glamour in my life. Something had to change ... so I called Emma.
The process was intriguing. We started to go through my wardrobe and she was compassionately effective at communicating her opinions to me. We discussed what worked and what didn’t and why, and her use of the camera was so powerful that I found her perspective easy to grasp and understand. We tried everything on and after a while things speeded up as I began to see what she was saying. And I was amazed! At the end of the session there were many big piles – good charity, not so good charity, archive, dressing up (for the kids), things to be dyed or altered and of course, the keepers. Then we looked at the keepers pile and Emma started to talk in ‘outfits’, again, something that I’ve not been doing until now. There followed a list of items that were therefore required and this is what we took shopping...
And then the Look Book arrived a few days later with the poignant photographs beautifully presented with supportive and explanatory text with each one. Examples of shapes, styles and colours that did and didn’t work for me, and a fabulous section of my new outfits so if I am ever in any doubt as to what to wear for an occasion, I just go to my Look Book for inspiration.
The number of clothes I own now is a heck of a lot less than it was before the process, but I wear more of them now and I can honestly say that I think less about my wardrobe and my shape now than I did before. By think less I mean worry less. Before, always in the back of my mind I would be worrying how many rolls of my muffin were showing through, or what on earth was I going to wear tomorrow, let alone to an occasion. I really don’t do that anymore and it’s a little bit like someone has turned the off switch on some white noise. I am more confident, there is no doubt about it. Who would have thought clothes could be so powerful? Thank you Emma! xx
